OK, so I fogot about this blog. I was just reading my last posts from my tore up groin injury that still bugs me occasionally. Yes. Still. And I still ran Carlsbad…and PR’d. I took a break and then geared up for La Jolla…and hurt my left foot. (Tendinitis, etc.) Let it heal, but, not enough. Ran La Jolla and regreted it later that night- and today. Still. My foot will never be the same. It healed enough to train harder through the summer…and ROCK the fuck out of AFC with a killer PR. It made my year…thats for sure.
Now on to now… I have kissed distance running goodbye. Its a sad thing, because running makes me so happy. I just can’t do that 40 miles a week bullshit anymore. It fired me up…got me that PR and then took me way down. I was set to TRiple Crown again, but, I have kind of let that slide… I don’t know that I want to push this foot issue anymore. I don’t know that I want to run at a competitive level. Competing to me only results in injury.
I picked up an Oxygen magazine a few weeks ago and had this fitness competition idea spark in my mind. I can do that. With some serious weight training and work, I can have that figure in a few months. (Can you say no more binge eating peanut butter and pretzles?) I am not far off from it… I just need to whittle a wee bit of flab off the glutes and a smidge of my belly…bam! Fitness/ figure competitor. Well, I need some more mass, muscle mass… Protein. Protein. Protein.

Unless I run tomorrow, with my strained groin, thats all I had to offer for 2008.

Was pretty gay.
I had a rad tempo run, a decent 4 miler and then my shit fell apart on my long run and I only made it 5 miles.

12/8- 5 mile run @ easy pace, 1 mile walk warm/cool. extra 1 mile walk, quick ab routine after work
12/9- upper body weights in am, 3 mile walk at lunch
12/10- 8 mile run, 5 @ tempo pace (7:30)
12/11- full body weights in am, 4 mile run after work @ easy pace
12/12- SRD. My 28th birthday!
12/13- long run. 11-12 miles only did 5
12/14- full body weights
22 miles for the week.

I dont remember if I posted for 11/29- 11 miles
12/1 3 miles… giving 5 days a week a shot against my better judgement. Again.
I think I might use this opportunity of 3 easy/ short running days to sleep in a bit later and keep the 430 alarm for the longer days (Wednesday). I might do the 2 x day workin out again, too. I like the structure of this week of running. I might keep it as my ‘base’ later on.
Whatever. Running sucks, but I love it dearly. I would much rather run than be an obese fat whale in a scooter at wal-mart. But thats just me.

One ass kicking speed workout this am. 7 miles total running. 3 of those miles under 7 min/ miles.
